Easy way to level the rear of my truck

I am wanting to level my truck out. Don't really want to lower the front, just want to lower the rear to make it more level. What's the easiest/cheapest way to do this. Oh yeah I got a 1994 F150 SWB reg cab

fordmudgrappler 10-22-2009 09:17 PM

does it sit stock as of now?

94XLT5.0 10-22-2009 09:19 PM

Yeah it does. I have read about a few different ways of doing it, but I just don't know enough about it to make an educated decision. Here is a shackle drop DJM Suspension SH1014-2 - DJM Suspension Shackle Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com just not really sure how far I need to drop to make it level.

Well, if you're dead set against raising the front of the truck, a simple and free way to lower the rear would be to remove or shave down the lift block in the back.

Any Cons to doing this? How does one go about doing this?

thanks

DJM shackles will drop it 2"s

I have them on my truck.

Did you lower the front too. If not does it level the truck out or make a significant difference?

yeah the cheapest way would be to pull the block out...just unbolt the u-bolts and lift the truck by the frame and slide the blocks out and either shave them, get smaller ones, or just say to hell with them and lower the truck back onto the axle and bolt it back up.

Alright I am gonna check that out tomorrow, is there any con to doing this?

thanks

not any that i can think of...if anything it might make the ride a little more rough in the rear don't see how but anything is possible. and you may need to buy new u-bolts depending on how long the stock ones are and how tall the blocks are. good luck though

Are they just chunks of rubber or what? Just trying to get an idea to about how tall(thick)or they and how much do you think I should lower my truck to make it level?

thanks again

The rear blocks on the half-tons are two inches tall, and made of steel. Nice side benefit of removing the blocks is that wheelhop should be reduced...at least in theory.

The only real cons I can think of off the top of my head would be reduced ground clearance, and a saggy look in the rear (and subsequent blinding of oncoming drivers at night) for any serious towing or hauling.

I put 2800# F-250 springs in my '89 F-150 two years ago, and left the lift blocks out. Now, the 250 spring pack is a tad thicker than the 150, but not much...I was able to reuse my u-bolts. Some guys say reusing u-bolts is a no-no, but so far that hasn't been my experience.

Hope this helps...
Pat

It should make the truck sit level if not just slightly lower in the rear. If it does make it sit lower in the rear then you'll prolly need one inch blocks for it.

wickedklown83 10-22-2009 10:26 PM

not a rubber block, it is a metal usually aluminum i think, from my personal experiences they are about 2 inch range tall, same width as your leaf springs, hope it helps
