Axle Rebuild
Hey all, I have a 78' F-150 4x4 that I am working on restoring, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to take my front and rear axles to be rebuilt and what would it cost to have them rebuilt and powdercoated. I live in aurora, out by 470 and smoky hill rd.
Thanks!! Rompin 78' |

It's a distance for you but I can recommend a shop called AEA Automotive in Longmont for general purpose performance work. Small 3-man shop and the exact opposite of the gleaming floor, clean-hands shops you see at dealers, in the low rent part of town, but fair prices and good work from old time real mechanics. Easy to work with. I trust them.
Ask for Mike if you contact them. I knew someone that recently had axle work done at 4 Wheel Parts, cost quite a bit, the pinion gear failed after a short time, but supposedly they fixed it for him again right away. I don't know about the powder coating, though. Never got that fancy! Mine are coated with this brown stuff that looks almost exactly like rust... :-X24 -Bill near Loveland -------------------------------- 1996 Ex/Cab F-250 4x2 Long bed 460 [Work truck and Riceboy humiliator] E4OD auto, 10.25" 4.10 Stirling posi, Air-Lift suspension, homebrew cold-air intake w/K&N filter, modified ignition advance curve, Edelbrock 2x61 mm throttle body, Bosch Platinum +2 plugs, Champion truck plug wires, L&L long tube headers, 3" exhaust system, cat & Flowmaster 70, modified MAF meter, Michelin LTX 265/75/16E, Mobil 1 10W-30, Red Line D4 ATF, Red Line 80W-90 in axle. Thanks Bill for writing back! Yeah I have the same paint job as you, but I don't like the color!! :-X10
That is a little far. I have had some work done a drive shaft out of a toyota by I think it was Drive Train Industries. They seemed to do some pretty good work. Although I don't think they do powder coating. I was hoping someone else might have some other places they might have used in the past. I will look keep looking around, the axles are not off the truck yet so I have some time. Thanks again! Mike Rompin 78' |
