I was looking at Holley projection for my truck as I already have the Offy intake and got to really looking at the sytems the GM units and the Older Ford CFI units are virtually identical, as they both bought the technology from Robert Bosch this is not unexpected, Sooo I'm thinking my old 84 f150 with a 300 has most of the sensors already in place could just gut the system off of an old Crown Vic or similar with the 302 or 351 CFI and put it in my truck including the EEC-IV If I wanted to I could use the GM or Holley throttle bodies as they will work with the system on Fords, the model 700 GM throttle body is supposedy a good unit and is somewhere around 600 CFM more than large enough for a 300 that is stock, any thoughts? Any one have a ford with CFI on it sitting around?

I know of a guy who is in the process of switching his '85 mustang from CFI to Carb. I'll let him you, maybe he wants to get rid of that old stuff. I've never had a CFI car, but from everyone I've known that had one(Ford that is), big thumbs down. However, I love the mulit-port stuff, just my own opinion. I will contact him for you.

From wht I've read some say the GM throttle body plugged into the ford system works well.

You have mail.

Yeah, the GM trucks from like 88-97 or whenever they switched seemed to work well.

cw50must I didnt notice the first time that you have an 84 f150 also, I,m in process of eliminating the old YFA feedback on mine before I have to learn anything else about it, Mine is for the most part stock exept for the exhuast at the moment and its not a fancy one 300 with a T18, I had to repair the AC as it leaked at every fitting including the prssure relief valve but its sound and dependable.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 02:47 AM (EST)]Yup, I hate the computer controlled carb. I've had some try to convince me to convert it to an older style, dura spark, regualr carb and all, but I am not really into putting much money into it other than keeping it going. oh yeah, mine's a 300 as well.
