I'm a manager at a small software company. We sell highly specialized software to the print industry. We traditionally developed and sold to newspapers (some of our customers include USA Today, Wall Street Journal, LA Times, Cleveland Plain Dealer, and dozens more) but we are developing and selling into other print segments (i.e. publishers, commercial printers) now as well. We have a US "office" but most everyone works from home and our based throughout the country. Our world headquarters is Netanya, Israel.

Construction mechanic, I work at a small concrete company, been there about 36 years. We have Ford trucks, Bobcats, Macks, Sterling’s and trailers. I do all the mantaince, body work and repairs order all of the supplies and do warranty work in the field. It can get busy sometimes, but with construction slow, it’s not bad lately.

Got 23 yrs in a machine shop. Nope, not a handle turner by trade, but do have full run of the shop for "guberment jobs"(being a gearhead, I have alot). Started as driver, did work in shop for short while, learned Autocad and been in the office ever since. I hate stitting at a desk for long, so I always find something on the floor to do/fix/make. Oh, ya, I'm the resident mechanic, plumber, electrician, salesman, inventory control, plant manager, truck driver, inspector, receptionist(I'm the voice on the automatic phone too).
Been really slow the last few years, but we still plug along some how. If the doors do ever get locked, it will be me turning off the lights. |
Work for American Electric Power and no, I dont have anything to do wtih line crews or blackouts lol. I basically control and manage a fleet of powerplants to meet the real time needs of the grid. Rarely ever has anything on the generation side of things caused any power outages so dont shoot me lol. Got a pretty cool 8 or 10 screen computer desk (depends which one I am at) I get to sit and watch for 12hr on a rotating shift. Fun stuff. Try sitting and watching all that for 12hrs straight with only 3 hours of sleep (or none, a few times) and no we dont get breaks or a lunch, got to eat at our desks. Got about a 1hr drive each way too... from outside of Mt Vernon to Columbus. Fun stuff, but it pays the bills.
