Codes

Ok here we go, 94 2WD 4.0 with 5 speed, 293,000 miles. I have been getting the last couple of days an intermittent Check engine light, disconnected the battery last night for about 30 mins to reset the computer. drove almost 100 miles this morning before I got a light. At the same time or soon around it I get bucking at RPM and speed, sometime when just accellerating, dont know if related but the aftermarket cruise will drop off so I think its electrical but??????????????????

anyhow pulled the codes:

got a 5 2 2 not in park/neutral, its a manual so dont think thats a valid code.

got a 5 7, listed in book for cars only

and a 5 8, Idle tracking switch circuit fault, (trucks only) dont know what this is.

anyhow anyone have any ideas? the codes make no sense, when its cold out and on the way to work I got intermittent check light as I drove into a cooler area but as soon as the temp guage moved warmer the light went out so I think that could have been a temp sensor so I didnt worry about it. Now I think I have a weak fan clutch as it has been running a little hotter on the open road with and without ac on. so I really think its electrical. so again any ideas/help where to go appreciated.

BTW have free flow exhaust, free flow intake (150000 or better) so not problem, replaced the MAF a couple of years back, IAC is disconnected and has been for years but its only for fast idle AC anyhow! other than this no engine problems and normal maintenance.

All the codes are 3 digits for your '94.

I agree, those are not valid codes. You should retest.

These are the KOEO codes and they are in the ford code book. I ran them 3 times.

Forget the codes, solve the problem with the engine. The codes are for emissions, not for engine diagnostics.

So other than this, there's no engine problem, problem solved.

You're welcome

Ok guys took it in to a local shop, I had part of the codes right, missed the first 1. Had a 157 and a 158 is what the guy said, bad MAF. Just finished puttin in a new one so we will see.
