Power driver seat not working

I have a '94 Explorer Limited with 198K, I might be selling it in the spring. I need to fix the power driver's seat as it is stuck in the farthest back position. The power lumbar functions, but the controls that move the seat forward, back, and recline are not working.

The fuse is good, I tried a different switch assembly from the salvage yard, and I don't see any loose or corroded connections near the switch. Does anyone know of any common failures on these systems or any suggestions of what to try next?

BTW, at one time a few years back, the power seat would work intermittintly. I would think this would suggest a loose ground somewhere, but the wires are tightly wrapped and are in tough spots to access.

The memory seat buttons are not functioning either, if that helps. The passenger power seat is functioning perfectly. Does anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for the power seats? I have looked every where and have not found one.

What you need more than anything else is a VOM.

take the seat out, flip it upside down and look at the drive motor for the forward, back motion. you can jumper the wires with a battery or battery charger to make the motor run and move the seat. I would guess your motor is old and tired. Thats why it worked "sometimes". You might be able to spray and clean up the motor and slide if it is not burnt out, but thats a long shot.

I will try this later today, however, I am guessing that it might be a pinched or broken ground instead. I believe there are 3 different motors under the seat for all the different seat adjustments, and none of them are working. Would be hard to believe that all three crapped out at the same time. When the seat worked some of the time, they either all worked or all didn't.

I will give an update tonight on what I find when removing the seat. Thanks guys.
