flexplate

How bad is it to change the flexplate on a 95 f150 with a 5.0 and e40d?

Bad, a real pain it the..........

No not to bad I guess, could think of several things I'd rather do though!

If that is all you gotta do just unbolt it and slide it back far enough to drop the old one and put the new one up in place and bolt it on. When I did it years ago on a 78' I worked in like a 4" gap between the motor and tranny to do it. Bell housing bolts came loose and the flex plate cracked because of it. I was a teenager all of about 90lbs soak and wet back then so lifting the trans/transfer case back up into place from the ground by myself was not a option. Didn't own and to impatient to rent a trans jack, buddies all at work.

Anyway I was able to do it in a couple hours taking very little apart to do so. One notable difference in the trucks years was the cross member. On the 78 seams I was able to leave the trans bolted to the cross member and unbolt the cross member from the frame, used it as a sliding support to move it back holding the bulk of the load. The cross member on this newer series won't work out the same unfortunately.
