Paint

This Sunday when I install my toys I am going to paint the undercarriage of my truck. Do I use black paint or a rubber undercoating?

I would use the paint Sam. But that is just my opinion.

Hi Shaun I need about 6 cans of paint to spray my truck every year. I just want the best type of paint that will hold up. Winter will set in soon.

I do know that you can get the line-ex lining put on it as an indercoat but I am not sure what that would cost. I have the line-ex liner in the new truck and it does great.

I would say rubber, it can take more of an beating then the reg paint would

If your using it for protection I would use undercoating, if your using it for looks I would use paint. I respray my frame and such for shows every now and then but I undercoated my rear wheel wells so they would be protected.

I would definitely go with paint on a frame. At least with paint you can see problems coming.

I want to spray it to look good. My Pro Comp MX6 shocks must have been painted with white wash! My truck sits up and you can see the undercarriage. It makes the truck look much better. I am going to paint with undercoat spray under the bed. The rears, frame and everything else black paint. What is better flat black or glossy?

SCRWDRVR 08-28-2009 08:03 PM

I use gloss on mine, I think it looks better

Same here.

flat paint of any type will collect dirt worse :( gloss seems to repel dirt and water better

Thank you all for the help. Six cans of spray paint will do it .

Hey Sam if you haven't already or you can still do it over the paint I am very fond of the DupliColor Spray bedliner. It sticks where ever you spray it and is very durable. I even did the steel wheels on my full sized Bronco with it.
