Head Rest Issue F150 09

Head Rest Issue: F150 09 is very uncomfortable leading to a sore neck in a very few short miles, I femoved the head rest and turned it around. Does anybody have a solution or replacement parts. I saw some information on the web about bending the posts of the head rests and i could do that if nothing else. My wife is a little shorter & she sloches down in her seat with the head rest raised fully so it doesent hurt her neck

Everyone has the same issue as most cars headrest have been badly designed and we are so used to them being this way. Give them a couple of days and they will feel great and they end up being in a really nice posistion to rest ya head back on.

2010 are improved maybe get your dealer to get you a set of them, They are set back further from customer complaints?

I thought it was only the rears they modified?

SteveVFX4 08-16-2009 12:12 PM

the pickuptruck.com news said Ford redesigned the front headrests for 2010 based on customer feedback.

The new big azz rear headrests came out of nowhere.

I thought so as the head rests look exacatly the same in the 2010's as the 2009's look.

Will go past the ford dealer in a second on way out and have a proper look.

Here's some random 2009/2010 f150 shots. Looks the same to me so lets play a game.

What model year is what pic lol some of you gonna get this easy.

They have been moved back one half inch.

i didn't like mine at first but after a while and finding the right spot in the seat its been great since

They have redesigned the shape. Yes, 1/2" difference. Tens not as pointed as the nines at the top front.

My head does not contact the headrest, but close to it. So I'm OK.

Here's another thing to consider.

I'm 6'-1" and 250lbs. My chest is (50") That would have a tendecy to push the base of my neck and head forward from the back of the seat and headrest.

A person with a smaller chest size would set back into the seat farther where your head may contact the head rest.

look into the 07+ Expy and Mustang headrests as well. They appear to have the same post spacing as the 09+ F-150...and have the same weird forward arching

My Mustang headrest feels soft as a pillow, and the Expy one is non-noticeable as it sits back slightly.

btw, I'm 6'3" at 280lbs

Those things are so big, how can the driver see out the back window? The '09 headrests in the back are small, they look miniscule in comparison.

Esacape headrests will fit into the trucks....they just won't lock in an up position without a bit of modifications....

The '09 passenger headrest blocks the view to the right rear.

As for the angle, I took them off and bent the bars and fixed it.
