Need GEN I lightning throttle cable - Custom Ducts

Don't know if this is the right place for this post, if not sorry.

I converted my Bronco manifold to a TFS-R and need a lightning throttle cable or a substitute that will work. Ford no longer has them.

I also need a recommendation for after market 4" air duct plumbing as I am using a 90mm throttle body with a FMS 90mm MAF.

Found the ducts. Need throttle cable bad.

Lemme know if/where you find one, need one for my Bronco too...

RockAuto.com has 'em, for about $20. When I check the application list for the 'Accelerator Cable' for a 94 L, It shows the same cable working on broncos / normal fseries (twin tb trucks). The cable that was originally on your Bronco won't work with the lightning single TB?

I saw the ones at rock auto made by Dorman. They have the same one at NAPA different part # (NAPA) but made by Dorman. Pioneer has one also sold at Autozone

Why do you say the Bronco won't work. Length or connector?

I was asking whether or not the bronco TB cable would work with a gen 1 L single TB(?)

Sorry misunderstood your post. The engine is still in the shop for new heads, cam and intake. I will have it back in the Bronco in two weeks. I'll let you know then.

OK got the Bronco engine back in and the original throttle cable works just fine on the TFS-R/Accufab throttle body.

Awesome, pics?

Did you have to make custom bracketry? How is the TB mounted? does it pull front to back or side-side?

408bronco 11-16-2009 04:02 PM

Used a lightning bracket. Cable pulls from back to front as the Accurab is mounted on the drivers side. Otherwise it pulls just like the Dual TB.

What pics?

Cool, just picked up a lightning bracket and cable. Good to know it'll work.

Hmm, I got mine (drivers side accufab) all mocked up with an L throttle bracket but the only way it looks like itll work is pulling from the front of the engine (linkage is oriented at bottom of throttle body) and looping back to the firewall...

Is that what you're talking about when you say "Cable pulls from back to front"?

Do you have any pictures of your cabling/TB setup you could post?

408bronco 12-03-2009 11:30 AM

Yes, Bracket to front of TB - cable connects to ball & cruise control. Cable exits front of TB and loops back around to firewall.

I have a picture of mine but this site does not allow pics. Do you have an email?

Here's mine... Thanks for the pix of yours. I really like the ducting, is it 3.5" I.D. tubing?? What size MAF and TB are in those pictures?

I'm hoping the L throttle cable I have has enough length to do the loopback without creating too tight a radius on the U-turn. I think I remember reading somewhere that the throttle cables are the same part for both Broncos and L's.

The ducts are 4". I got them from a company in Washington state called "intakehoses.com" they have all types of connectors and elbos. The TB is an Accufab 90mm and the MAF is a 90mm Ford Lightning (Gen2).

The original Lightning cable is different, the aftermarkets are listed for both they have a different length for lightning. I beleive it is one inch longer. But as you can see I have plenty of bend room with my stock bronco cable
