Explorer black trim paint

Does anyone know of a paint that will match the original black painted trim on the sides of the rear hatch window ('96 XLT)? If you have repainted this area, some tips on prep and masking would be appreciated. (I'm not an experienced painter, but at least have a gun and compressor.)
TIA

this post is kind of old, I hope you havent been waiting on one of us this whole time.

I assume it was black, and your explorer is a different color.
If this is correct, then I would simply sand lightly with a 600 grit paper (using a spray bottle of water with just a hint of dishwashing detergent in it.) I would then clean the area with prep-sol and mask it off. I would use almost anykind of auto paint, and I would proceed to paint it. nothing spectacular and it should take you very little time from start to finish.

If however the paint here was of the same color as your vehicle, I would go and get the smallest size paint can that my jobber would mix for me. (like a pint) and would still follow my directions.

Good luck
