Help with frame issues on 1994 f-250

new to site looking for advice i just got a 1994 f-250 460 looked at it twice in the dark asked the guy about the frame and he said as far as he knows its ok. was told the truck sat for about two years the sticker was up 9/07 so i got it thinking it needed a brake line and a few other things. the truck only had a 105000 on it and runs really well. well when i got it home the next day i noticed some pretty bad frame rot from about a foot back from the cab to the rear bumper and a crack at the leaf spring hanger bracket on the passanger side is it possible for me to cut this section out of another truck or get a frame section new from somewhere and have it welded into my truck??? the rest of the frame seems pretty good. also can i get a section from any f150-f250 or f-350 or does it have to be from just and f250 ill try to post some pics after work tomorrow.

Thanks

Up to you. If this is a recent transaction I might think about strong arming the seller to take it back for full refund. May qualify for misrepresentation in small claims court. As I understand it,Small claims court has limited power, but with the right attitude on your part plus the " court " word thrown around you may be able to put this ( Sellers (ah,...oversight ) back in his drive way. IMO.

I agree with that.
If it was a really good deal you can fix it, but if you feel riped of get your money back know.
welcome to fte!

i new something had to be up he was asking 1100 for the truck i offerd 800 and he took it so not a huge loss special if i get it in the road. i also feel i can part it out and get the money back if i had to. i also had a freind offer me what i paid for it if i want out. i found a frame for $200 not far from me already. i know theres an f-150 in a u-pull yard im going to sunday they would just cut out the section i need for about 30 bucks. but that is if an f150 frame is the same in the back.

thanks for the advice

not sure, I would measure the thickness and see.
I did not know you got it that cheap.

.....Hey Charger7022, I'm sorry I did not see that your a new member here at FTE. WELCOME. I was new to Ford trucks and am Not a mechanic, so I went searching :-tap for a place that had Great information plus a Good bunch of people. We have a GREAT site here. :-jamminWelcome aboard.:-jammin post some pic's of the affected areas. I think I remember reading that the 150 frames are That same. But the 250 HD frame was different. Don't quote me on that. Maybe some will clear that up in this thread, or I'm sure you could find that info in a search of this site.

ya the f250 LD and HD were a taller frame by quite a bit i remember right. i would take the truck to a welding shop or a machine shop and ask if they could just repair your frame. ive heard of this being done and sometimes it winds up being stronger than stock

Lets see some pics of your frame, to see how bad it is. F150 and F250 frames are completly differnt.

even with a light duty F250?

Framing the question...

I would submit that if you can get a complete frame in the same cab style and wheelbase that would be the best option. Once you start cutting up a rotten frame where do you stop? Even if you can only find a F150 a good F150 would probably still be stronger than a rotten 250.

dn.

Yup. the only thing light duty about a light duty f250 are the axles

bill11012 08-01-2009 03:59 PM

I have been told wrong in the past then.
So if you swap the axles and put on HD badges it is the same as a real HD?
