What Size Tires? Lift?

Hi Im new to this site and I just got a 75 F250 I was wondering if I could fit 35's on it without a lift? or if someone recomends that I sould lift it what would be the best way? Should I do a suspension lift with leaf springs? any input would be great thanks

Welcome to the site:

You have asked the exact question as another member. We are talking about the same thing. Follow this link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ford-lift.html

As far as your question, you can fit 35's and deending on how you wheel can fit up to 37's if they are narrow enough.

Should you decide to lift your vehicle, you will be limited to leaf springs unless you are up for some heavy modification, but we have covered some pretty specific stuff on the above thread.

Most common question ever asked on this site.

Yes, you can run 35's. You can actually run 37's... I do.

Looks like a nice clean highboy, welcome aboard.

Are you keeping the factory rims or going with aftermarket rims?

If you plan on running something like a 35x12.50 just be sure to buy rims with the proper offset (backspacing) which allow you to turn lock to lock without rubbing.

They're 37x12.5x16.5 Irok radials on 16.5x9.75 American Racing Outlaw II wheels with -14 offset, 4 7/8" backspace. These don't rub in day to day conditions (of course I can make them rub if I push it hard enough), though I've had 35's that did. The backspace/offset will drive that possibility.

Ever get down to So Ca.? I have several nice grill shells for this era truck, and quite a few other parts too.

You have any more pics of your highboy? it looks like a very clean, straight truck.

I don't want to sound repetitive, but I have a stock '79 F250. How big can I go without a lift?

ShamelessMT 07-29-2009 06:14 PM

I think the general consensus is 33's are the max since they're (F250's '77.5 and newer) approximately 4 inches lower.

hey montana no dont have any more pics i can take some this weekend though. by the time i get home its dark out. but yea pretty clean no rust missing tailgate (which i need to get if anyone has one) good motor runs great. only thing the bench seat is all torn up and i need to reupolster it or replace it

I also have tailgates with operational latches and handles, and I have complete seats with good upholstery.
U need to get down to So Ca.

I run 33's with stock '96 alloy wheels on my '78 F-250 4x4 Supercab. All suspension is stock and original. The truck also has the Camper Special package and I have installed a 460 with L&L fenderwell headers. The only rub I get is the tires on the headers at full turn. I plan on fixing that one day, but it hasn't caused problems in the 12 years the combination has been on the truck.
