Rear hatch lifting cylinders

I am considering using Expedition rear hatch cylinders for an application other than what they were designed for (but not unsafe by any means). Since I don't own an Expedition, could someone out there tell me: 1) what is the overall extended length approximately 2) what is the overall stroke approximately and finally 3) do you have any idea of what the lift capacity is on these. What would help me get a rough idea is if you had them off of the vehicle (ones that were in good condition), can you compress them by hand? If you can't, that's a good sign. I would expect them to be fairly strong. Also, if you provide this data, let me know what year it's for in case it matters.

Thanks,
Biederboat
