Rugged Cover Tonneau Cover ?????
 

I was looking around at Tonneau covers today and I ran across a Rugged Cover by Rugged Liner - www.ruggedliner.com - It is a 3 fold cover like the Extang Trifecta but it looks a little better made than the Trifecta. I was wandering if anyone has seen these covers or maybe has one and can give me some feedback on how they like it.

Get the Extang they will stand behind their product if you ever need warrenty work. I've never heard of Rugged Liner have you?

I've got an "Undercover", like it, no water gets in, easy one person on & off, locks.

The Rugged Cover is not better made than the Trifecta. Most of the Rugged's seal is made of foam, don't know how long that foam will last. The Trifecta uses mostly the type of rubber that's around your window which is like what other tonneau covers uses. The Trifecta is self adjusting, the Rugged is not. But, the Rugged costs less than the Trifecta.

Both covers are pretty neat though, there's no hardware to install. You can remove or install the covers in less than 60 seconds. Note that the Extang Solid Fold is just like the Trifecta, but it's made of black powdercoated aluminum for more security.

Thanks for the feedback. I hadn't heard of the Rugged Cover before yesterday and wsn't sure about them. The framework seemed to be a little better made with an extra cross brace added to it but I do agree about the seals not being quite as good. "Truckdaddy" that is GREAT info and pic's that you posted up and really shows the likenesses and differences.

OK, you guys convinced me. I went with the Extang Trifecta. It is a very nice cover and it only took about 5 minutes to get it on the truck and lined up. One thing that I did notice is that they could have made it about 1" to 1 1/2" longer because that thing just barely catches the tailgate and the front of the bed. Overall though I think it is going to work out great for what I want it for.

I made a note in the previous post that the cover is barely long enough. Well, after looking at it closer it doesn't quite cover both ends. I have the plastic lay-in bedliner which goes over the front of the bed. If I move the cover up to where it will be to seal the front of the bed then there is a small gap on the tailgate end. If I move the cover back to where it barely catches the tailgate then there is a small gap at the front of the bed. I have been talking with the factory about the issue and they have been very helpful with trying to figure out why it is short. I was wandering if anybody out there has the Trifecta and has the same problem or does yours cover and seal both ends of the bed very good.

I have the Trifecta and mine is fine. I put it on at the front and make sure the rubber seal is on the front of the bed, and it covers to the tailgate fine. I also have the 6.5 foot bed. The part number I bought was 44790.

Do you guys know of anyone that makes a cover that will work on a truck with a tool box?

I have a Berlin cover on mine. It has been on for 3 years... snow rain mud ect. It is very good, no shrinkage. fits nice. keeps rain out, and the make one for tool boxes I am told.
