Picked up a true 390 on sale/moving day!! Barn/Field find!

So I picked up this truck as the owners were moving to Texas and they didn't want to drag it behind with them.
As the story goes, it has a 390...:-roll in a high boy..
I just wanted the truck for parts as the drivetrain can fix two other trucks for me. So last night I decided to pull the plugs and check the stroke and much to my surprise it is a 390 at least! :-X04 I kinda wondered as it had Erson valve covers, air cleaner, edelbrock intake and a 600cfm double pumper Holley on it! So I then decided to run a compression check on it and all cylinders averaged out at 125psi cold. Keep in mind this truck hasn't been drove or started in 10 years, or so I was told. I had the dizzy out and I also looked in through the oil fill cap hole and the inside of this engine is spotless. I could see the valve springs are white. So I am thinking this might have been rebuilt recently when it was parked 10 years ago. I put a different carb on it and some fresh gas and oil and it purrs like a kitten! Has 40psi oil pressure cold at idle and when it warms up it drops to 20psi, so not too bad. I am am pretty happy with it!!

Also, I have never seen a Holley carb like this one with no side bowls and its not OE. From what I can find it is a 4010 series and they stopped making them many moons ago.
Anyone have any opinions on this carb or ever seen one like it??

On to some pics of the beast!

WOW! Don was right, you STOLE that truck!!! LOL

All the cylinders within 10%, insides are clean, and it's a true 390. Lucky dog!!!

That carb is kind of interesting. I'll trade you the edelbroke I have sitting here on the shelf for it. :)

Well Rep Points Too ya for picking up a fairly straight highboy !! Yeah 20 psi at a hot idle aint bad at all for an FE... Its Been year's since I have seen one of them old Crank top Camper's too !! :D

That carb isn't that old. It's kind of a knock-off of the old autolite 4100 series carbs. Good find, though!

That carb kind of looks like one of those new summit racing brand carbs. Pretty cool though!

I must be super lucky I have a 63 f-100 with a 351 win. Also a high boy with a 390 and I have a 77 z71 camaro that I'm putting a 450 into!

Measure the stroke to be certain (unless you were the one who implanted the 390 :p) highboys came with 360's but nearly every seller claims a 390's under the hood (it was a popular swap though).
