88 to 92 Headlight / Grill Conversion

hi, has anyone ever done and 88 (below)

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ictureid=12425

or any other year to a 92 (below)

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ictureid=12426

or above headlight and grill conversion? just wanted to know how complicated it was, or if can be done. i really like the look of the 92 and up look.

thanks!

You need the entire front clip, fenders, rad support, lights, inner fenders (I think) grill, hood...it's been done.

The entire clip can come off as one piece I believe, but it would be difficult at best with the engine in place.

you are going to need a few parts for that conversion, hood, fenders, filler panel below grill, grill and headlights, the rad support is also different,I just checked my panel cataloge and none of it is interchangable,I couldn't find the number for the 88 bumper style, but by looking at them I would guess they are different too.so I would say all sheet metal from the cowl up would have to be swapped out.a pretty involved swap.

Oh wow, you guys are the BEST! It seems like I won't be doing that project, sounds way too involved. I thouhg it would've been a simple headlight/grill swap-out.

Thanks for the fast reply guys.

And for all you guys with the 92 front clip, I envy you. LOL

no problem, the 87 to 91 aren't a bad looking front end style.at least its still a ford and still on the road.

If you really want to know how involved it is, talk to syscostang67 on this forum. He put a 92 and up front-end on his 85. Looks great to

Really? I'll definately look him up and see what his truck looks like. Thanks!

I don't think he's got the completed truck in his gallery, but when he replies to a thread there's a picture of his truck beside his name.

I found the thread here "https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/742921-interchangable-front-end-2.html" .... these guys did exactly what i'm thinking about doing! thanks!
