88 Dana 60 Dually Front Axle
Group
can an 1988 dana 60 front axle(from a stakebody 4x4 dually truck) be used in a reg F-350 truck?? Or is there something that needs to be converted over to use it with standard wheels?? |
As far as I know,The rotors and lockouts have to be changed.Thats why you can buy dually front ends cheaper.
|
rotors/hubs from a single wheel dana 60 or ttb dana 50 will work :-D I also happen to selling dana 50 hubs/rotors from my old axle }>
|
steve
how much for the hubs/rotors?? joe |
Quick question here....Is the Dana 60 a solid front axle?? Or like the Dana 44 HD Independent front axle.
|
solid front axle or monotube
|
to convert the dana 60 dual wheel front axle to single wheel application, all you have to do is unbolt the dual wheel spacers from the front hub.

pretty sure that is 2wd only. . .else I doubt you would EVER find the cheaper dually dana 60 front for sale when you could spend a few minutes to unbolt spacers and jack the price up a few hundred bucks :-innocent

it is the 2 wheel drive that has the different hubs. the 4X4 is nothing more than a D60 with the adapters bolted on.

Centurion Conversion using bolt on adapters. I understand that these can be unbolted and is basically a SRW Dana 60 axle. . .
http://ylobronc.users.superford.org/...allyspacer.jpg but I have also seen a number of these for sale, and these are the style I'm referring too when people ask about converting (at least those I have talked too). . . http://images.craigslist.org/3nc3k33...f203271340.jpg Which have actual Dually hubs. . . http://i.ebayimg.com/17/!BVD9tV!Bmk~...VjZMpQ~~_1.JPG Though, the above pics are from a BJ Dana 60. . .here is a king pin dana 60 with actual dually hubs. . . http://i.ebayimg.com/18/!BWRtLK!!Wk~...LEznk!~~_1.JPG http://i.ebayimg.com/23/!BWRtI8Q!Wk~...K2h8Yw~~_1.JPG Is it a year split somewhere? If so, where? I only know what I see, and those are what I run into. . .I state neither opinion or fact on this one, just what I have found. . . Original poster, which one looks like what you have? I guess that answer is the direction you need to take in this matter of conversion :-X04 |
Just unbolt the adapter from the rotor. DONE . YOU NOW HAVE A SRW D60.
As for the cut off of the King pins, the last year is 91 of them 92 and newer is BJ |

http://ylobronc.users.superford.org/...allyspacer.jpg as you said, this is a Centurian conversion. that did not come from ford like that. but I have also seen a number of these for sale, and these are the style I'm referring too when people ask about converting (at least those I have talked too). . . http://images.craigslist.org/3nc3k33...f203271340.jpg Which have actual Dually hubs. . . http://i.ebayimg.com/17/!BVD9tV!Bmk~...VjZMpQ~~_1.JPG Though, the above pics are from a BJ Dana 60. . .here is a king pin dana 60 with actual dually hubs. . . http://i.ebayimg.com/18/!BWRtLK!!Wk~...LEznk!~~_1.JPG http://i.ebayimg.com/23/!BWRtI8Q!Wk~...K2h8Yw~~_1.JPG Is it a year split somewhere? I don't think those are bolt on, they are the actual hub. They are machined inside for press in bearing races and have broached splines for internal hubs. The dually adapter part is actually cast into the front of the hub. the rear part has cast and drilled ears for a rotor to bolt onto. . .If they are like the GM dually hubs it is questionable whether you should support vehicle weight on them :-rip
