Well I would call that stuck not sunk, How you get here out? The crap blowing out the stacks after you started it looked healthy.

Bullitt390 06-18-2009 08:12 AM

Can't believe the crud flying out of the stacks! You had an open air cleaner and not a snorkel?

It looked like you would have made it out if you had came right up beside the Mitsubishi/Dodge sitting there?

Recoil 06-18-2009 09:44 AM

You were not sunk/stuck, you were just temporarily immobilized.

How cold was the water?
That was quite a bit of mud that passed through the engine. How much water did the diffs and stuff take on?
Have you relocated any of the breathers? MIght be time to relocate the air filter and get some air from the cab.

alaskaforby4 06-18-2009 12:57 PM

The water is about 35*..My winch and everything was underwater but luckly I was able to snatch to some nearby shrubery and winch myself out from underwater, sure am glad for that 2nd battery. Gotta love those old warns. The cab was full of water up to the instruments on the drivers side.Water and silt went into everything, my oils are the color of milk. My starter was the 1st thing to go with all that silt sand I got half a crank before it siezed

Hopefully I can get a good flush on everything and ill be ok, hopefully.

peganit2 06-18-2009 01:06 PM

LOL, hope there's some magic in that hydrogen hybrid of yours.

Cylinders are going to be scored like crazy with all of that crud getting pushed thru there.

The junk that spewed out of the exhaust didn't get sucked in by the engine!! It probably seeped into a leak in the exhaust system while the truck was off (all of the exhaust was under water 'cept the stacks, and i even think i hear an exhaust leak in the vid). When testing the exhaust for leaks when its running, a normal person can't feel all the pin holes by all the welds and joints, so the water seeped in those pin holes and mixed with some black sooty carbon buildup in the exhaust system. And there you have it, light steamy exhaust spewing black water.

If water was up to the air cleaner, the entire engine would have been full of water, and it wouldn't have started, so your engine is probably fine.

If you engine stalled at the end, and you didnt shut it off purposefully, well then forget what i said above and change the oil quick!!!!

I enjoyed the vid tho.. got anymore of your truck???

Yeah theres a ton of them there on you tube just look up alaskaforby4..
The engine died it sucked in a ton of water and turned the oil to milk, unfourtinitly i had to still tow that red P.O.S out there too, (the original mission). But i made it about a mile out to a nearby road. where I changed the oil and put some seafoam in, then ran it another 30 miles to my house where I changed the oil again and it runs great. Tranny looks like strawberry milk tho, I definitly have some fluid changing to do. Oh well at least I got it on film

YEP!! well the last part of my previous post definately applies then, forget what it said about the exhaust system! DAM FORDS, you can't even SINK them to kill 'em.

I'll check out some of your other vids, i like how the truck sounds and looks.
