I have some advice for you.

1.) Nice does mean something in sales just not everything.
2.) A good product produced by a good company is worth a premium.
3.) A big company that can hit main stream markets at the cheapest price can often stay in business regardless of product quality.

And some advice for you:

1; I sold my photography at a trade show for 10 years and the people that were nicer did a little better but they usually have the worst products. I'm not going to pay extra for a smile, I can get that at the grocery store.

2; I will agree with that but they usually get carried away with their prices eventually.

3; That's not true at all. Nobody is going to keep buying garbage.

Happy with Red-Head

I just installed a Red-Head box in my 05.

1. It never drove this good new.
2. Service was top notch. Delivered fast and core credited promptly.

I will pay a little extra for quality and good service. These things are rare now days.

My truck is a diesel. When I said that, I should have said all 03 diesels had the 36 spline. I just don't know if the 5.4 is the same. You need to count the splines between the wide spacers, of which there are four. As I said, 9 is 36 and 8 is 32.

I'm really not getting into this arguement, per se. I can tell you that over in the 99 to 03 7.3 diesel forum, Red Head steering has a stellar reputation for being a superior product compared to the original. And incidentally, I purchased mine based on that, as I didn't talk to the fellow everyone seems to be talking about.

Farian...don't forget to subtract out the price of the rebuilt Red Head box.

That makes the cost for the hydraulic under $400 for those (like me) who are running 35's on the factory original equipment at 140,000 miles...

if you provide your own steering box, you do save the core charge but the oru kit without the box is still just a tad over $1000. you will need to send your new box into oru so that they may have two additional ports machined into the box for the ram. they charge around 300 for the machining plus the additional shipping cost to get the box to them.

edit: just to be clear, the machining cost is included in that 1k for the kit.

Anyone have Redheads phone number? Seems that their web hosting has expired. I haven't come up with the number.

Thanks

Well after a quick look at the gearbox, I decided to just call them. They said I should have it by the weekend. Now to make time to change it out this weekend.

Thanks guys.

Well got time, this weekend to change out the gearbox. I was a bit worried at first, but after getting on the road. It's like having a new truck. Before I slowed down on corners, felt like truck was going to grab and roll over. Now, just goes into the corners and stays steady. No more wondering.

Thanks all guys.
