Lowering the rear end 1961 F100

Hello again all I need some help with a question how does one lower the rear end on a 1961 F100 without C-notching the frame or swapping out the rear ends? I read you can take out leaf springs (if someone can like me to a page on that thanks) or I could use lowering shackles? But I can't seem to find anything on google on how to use the shackles or where to buy thanks in advance.

Anyone a link to the page with the leaf springs removed or a link to the lowering shackles? plz??

There are mono leafs available but you'll have suspension travel issues without notching the frame.

Hmmm so can I use lowering shackles to avoid having to notch the frame? Or can I take leafs out to avoid that?

I think it depends on how low you go. If you lower the truck to a certain level you will need to "notch" the frame.

How much would a shop charge to notch the frame? It is way beyond my talents to do so? And I think the front will be lowered 4 inches hopefully...not slammed to the ground but definately riding lower

You would need to check with a local shop. Prices can vary from locale to locale. I could be wrong, but IMHO, you probably will find it difficult to locate a shop to perform such a project, due to the potential liability issues with frame modification.

I would suggest you spend some time reading through previous post on this and other truck sites. Use the search function and take a look at what others have done, questions asked and answers given. This will give you a look at various options and supplies which can help you accomplish your goals. For example: you may find that by adjusting your drop by 1" you can avoid frame modifications and save $$ and time.

Typical notch job is a days work at 100 bucks an hour...All depends on the shop.

also when you lower the truck you need to purchase custom shorter shocks.

Notching with a bolt on kit is fairly easy and can be accomplished by a novice. Most manufactures offer a bolt on notch.

Removing leafs will drop the truck a few inches but mush the ride.

If u take your leafs to a shop they can flip the eyes on your springs and lower it about 2"
