engine swap. wiring harness?

I have a 1994 f150, 4.9l, m50d tranny, and ive been looking at a jasper remanufactured 302 for a 1994 mustang cobra. i know that the engine will fit my tranny but what should i do about my wiring harness? would a mustang or an f150 wiring harness work?

You need a truck harness and either a truck computer or better yet a mustang computer, though you also need a mass air harness for the mustang processor.

so i should buy an f150 302 harness, mustang ecu, and a mass air harness?

If you can find a mass air truck harness you'll have something that fits the body correctly and will plug right in to the motor and whatever EEC processor you get. But if you can't get one you'll have to do some editing on your existing I6 harness. For that use any MAF harness from a Mustang or Lincoln or T-bird, remove the injector and mair meter wires from it and insert them into your existing truck harness. The reason the car harness isn't a direct fit is because the computer is housed on the passenger side instead of the drivers side so it's assembled all backwords.

wont i have to get rid of my I6 harness completely for my v8?
