Rear end spotter's guide

Is there a definitive rear end spotter's guide for Ford truck axles? Like finding out the axle type from the door tag if the axle tag is gone? I'm going wreckers hunting soon for a new rear for my 79 F150, hoping to find a 9" with 3.50 or better gears, and ideally a posi rear.
