Leather Seat Skin replacement for 05 F350 CC Lariat
I have a hole forming on the drivers seem edge. Can I buy a ford replacement skin? Or is there better options?
Thanks! |
You can get a pretty good price from the fte parts guy, but i'll bet you have to sit down before you get the price. You might want to check some auto upholstery shops near you most of the can easily get the leather to match the factory stuff.

Anyone done this?

Subscribed and bump!

I have the same tear you describe in my 01, and every one I see in the yards has this rip as well. I was quoted 4500 to get all of my leather re-done in my truck a while back from an upholstery shop. For now, I have to live with it.

Thanks! I'm not sure how good the color will match, or what the quality will be like, but they have a 100% feedback rating with almost 700 feedback responses. Let me know if you try them out, and how happy you are with the product. Stewart |
Send your request to FTEpartsguy.com along with your VIN.
The Ford seat covers come already sewn and ready to install. The price may be expensive, it may not be. I have no truck parts catalog this new, but to give you an idea: 2001 F250/350 Super Duty leather 'cushion' seat cover w/Captain's Chairs: MSRP $218.83 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $157.56. Most auto/truck upholstery shops can get the leather and stitch in a new piece where the seams come together. This is known in the autobiz as an insert. This way....you do not have to buy the entire seat cover. Ask your local Ford dealer who does their warranty upholstery work, then go there and get an estimate. Dealers usually send this type of work out, they do not install seat covers at the dealership. |
I put Wet Oakles on mine so that the seat wouldnt wear through from getting in and out of it all the time. I think I have pics. so I will post some later.

Nope, Katzkin's are only available for vehicles that did not come with leather from the factory. The upholstery on the leather seats is different from that of the cloth therefore their products will not work on factory leather seats.

that's not even remotely correct. Katzkin's will work on either. The seat foam / moulding is the same. It's just an upholstery difference. I had my entire truck's leather re-upholstered. There was no difference in the pattern they used based on the vehicle's interior (cloth or leather).
Well, I would have to see proof to believe you. I went round and round with Katzkin and several companies that deal with (sell and install them) and was told by everyone involved that this is not the case. I also know from personal experiece that the leather covers and the cloth covers attach different. I had one installer tell me that he put the leather ones on a factory leather truck once, but several of the mounting points did not line up and the back of the seats had some loose material. |
I dunno .. you tell me .. .I had leather and reupholstered with leather ..

Im not calling you a liar or trying to call you out, but there is nothing in those pics to prove they are katzkins and not custom upholstery. Although they could be katzkins as they kinda dont fit at the bottom. |
dude I'm not even going to bother with you .. didn't say mine were Katzkins .. had an appt set with them when I found out the full price .. I went with Classic Soft Trim. Point being Katzkin told me they can reupholster either-it didn't matter if the previous was cloth or leather. They use a pattern that's in no way custom cut to each specific truck - they do a lot of cloth to leather conversions . .and they used the same kit on mine that was leather before.
