when will the first 6.7 F250 be on the lots

I'm wondering when we will see the first new F250's with the new 6.7. I'm thinking in February of 2010. Does anyone know for sure?

rob_nc 03-11-2009 11:17 AM

Certainly after the first of the year...

senix 03-11-2009 01:37 PM

after jan 2010 I would think.

Best guess at this point is somewhere between middle of January to early February depending on where in the country it is being delievered too. Too early to know for sure though as a official date for shipping release is usually not set until after production begins and all is going well. As rob_nc and senix have already said, it will not be before the first of the year though...

What do you think are the odds of the big 3 convincing the EPA or the administration to delay the start date of the 2010 emission requirements? Due to financial situation they may be able to get a delay and therefore delay the date of the 6.7L in the showrooms.

No, Ford and Navistar contract is terminated December 31st 2009 now. They reached an agreement not long ago on it.

PowerStrokeHD 03-17-2009 09:38 AM

Yep... Its going to be the 6.7L or nothing come January 1st 2010 and Ford can not afford to not have a diesel offering for the SD since over 80% are sold equipped with one...

No chance. Navistar is trying this and were told NO.

The contract does end in Dec 2009, however, there will be enough engines produced to get well into 2010. I would also say at least April before the new 6.7 hits the market. I wouldn't be surprised if its a little later. Someone said there already taking orders for 2010 trucks now and they will be shipping soon.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the new 2011 trucks must meet the new emmision standards correct? If this is true then Ford could go all of next year as a 2010 model. Then January 2011 they would sell the new 6.7 engine.

It is all diesel engines produced after Jan 1, 2010 so they can't build another engine with the old specs after that date, as I understand.

No worry for Dodge. The 6.7 Cummins already meets 2010 standards.

It will be the same as what happened with the 6.4 likely, start the 2011 model year at the beginning of 2010 with the new motor.

So based on this they could stock pill the 6.4 engines and sell them through 2010 provided they are built in 2009. Does that sound right?
