Here is the elusive gasket ( 4.6 Romeo) that I had to go to beach ford to get because none of the other parts stores including napa could find it, and some people didn't think I new what I was talking about ( lower waterneck / oil filter mount base whatever that was a combination bolt to the block part )

See how close that round oil hole is to the square looking water opening

part was 10 dollars, I went to the service people who installed the remanufactured engine and the main guy said his people probably just used the old gasket cause the reman people who he called said it was'nt their responsability, so this should be on them and they should pay me for the gasket....but I won't push that just get my sh#t right :-banghead

agreed they should have.. .stupid they didnt...

I almost think Ford had a TSB on that gasket. Leakage was the problem (I got a "new improved" one from Ford for my 93 Crown Vic.

I hope you don't mean that one in the picture specifically I got today.....
cause I'm tired of messing with this....seemed like such a minor thing in the begining....tighten a bolt no problem....

Went out to the archives in the garage, mine has a -AA on the end. Probably super-ceded by now. I think the earlier problem was oil leakage.

SSG VA BEACH 03-11-2009 09:04 PM

a ford tech on the engine thread said they call the part an oil filter gasket but I still don't know what the waterneck part is actually called and serching was of no use when I first started on this. Hopefully all will be good tomorrow.....
