condensor gasket

I need a piece of sheet gasket material (<6" ID ->6.5" OD) for the top of my evaporator that has a piece of plexiglass on it to view the process. I checked with McMaster-Carr and they have a viton gasket (9473K75) that will work. Do I need to go to that expense ($17.38) for viton or will the neoprene or silicone which is much less expensive work as well. It is subject to methanol/BD at that point. Fabman, what do you use for your "condensor" ? Thanks. Tom

I used a piece of red silicone (1/4") that I had laying around. 4 years and still OK.

Thanks Don. I have been very busy and haven't done much in the bio dept. Hope you are well. I'll give you a call some morning and catch up on your latest endeavors. Tom
