on an F-250? I will be buying either a 5th wheel or a travel trailer soon. If I go with the 5th wheel I will have to remove the hard tonneau cover every time we go camping. How difficult is this to do? Can my wife and I do it? Any tips on getting it on and off easily and/or how to store it?

Depends on what brand but most are easily removed and replaced by two people. As for storing it be very careful because it is a painted surface.

I helped a friend put one on a Ranger about a month ago. We took it off a couple of times to adjust the mounts and it was pretty easy. Other than damaging the topper when moving/storing my biggest concern would be the mounting points. On the Ranger we used sheet metal screws(the ones included w/ the install kit)and I think you only get a couple of mounts/remounts before the screw will float in the hole. So if you do take it off it might be best if you leave the mounting hardware in place. Using nuts and bolts would solve that issue but getting the nut on the bolt may be challenging due to the limited space inside the bed rails.

The hard cover I have you would not even have to remove. ITs called a Retrax. I found this cover at rolltopcover.com. It is made of a hard plastic, that rolls up into a canister in the front of your pickup. You should not need to take it off, but if you did it would take two guys about 30-45 min.

Roll up covers are the best way to go. They are easy to move out of the way when you want to haul stuff. Look at truckgadgets.com and they have lots of stuff like that. ED
