The Powerstroke was available with the C6 through the 1996 model year. It was also available with the 6.9L and the 7.3L IDI. All of them had the same bellhousing pattern, so any of them will bolt up.

It was available in the F250, F-350, F-Superduty, E-250, and E-350, with the 5.8L, 7.5L, or the Powerstroke. They didn't sell many of them, but I have seen them. I also worked in Ford's Automatic Transmission Engineering at the time. We were building them.

This would be one of those "why?" moments.

Mark, were those the Cab & Chassis trucks? I seem to re-call seeing C6's in motor homes & the like.

Mark Kovalsky 01-27-2009 07:05 PM

They were cab & chassis, pickups, and vans.

Mainly it was for fleets. They didn't care about fuel economy, they cared about reliability and low purchase cost. They were also available retail, so I have to believe some were sold retail, but I don't know that for sure.

Think U-haul. They don't care at all about fuel economy because they don't buy any fuel. The customer buys all of the fuel.

don77 01-27-2009 07:21 PM

mark i believe that cuss the c6 is hard to kill
