Supercharging my V-10

Ok so I want to throw a supercharger on my 2002 V-10 Excursion, Yet every kit I have seen stops at 2001. I even called Paxton and was told he didn't know of a difference but the demand wasn't there to test after the 2001 model. My question is there a difference in the V-10 computer, fuel system or... that would prevent this system fom working on my truck Paxton Automotive - Supercharging Systems For The 1998-2002 V-10 Ford Truck & SUV . The link says 98-02 but the site says diff. I also checked the supercharger, turbo section but with no help

Vortech makes a kit also. Vortech Engineering: Viewing product: 1999-2003 Ford F-250, F-350, Super Duty, Excursion Supercharging Systems

Saw this under the asterick so maybe there is an issue.
Please Note:
*Supercharged horsepower and torque data shown is a calculated estimate based on percentage increases from actual rear wheel hp/tq measurements.
*Supercharging systems are not available for 2002 Ford 6.8L F-250, F-350, Super Duty and Excursion.

IMO a screw S/C would be better but nobody makes them anymore. I would not worry about the computer compatibilty because the truck should be tuned on the dyno anyway for the most in safety and power even then the computers are pretty much identical. Fuel system should be the same as well as the mechanical parts. There are bunch of other guys on here that know more about this topic than I do as they have force fed V10s.

All the supercharger kits come with a unit similar to a Kennebell boost-a-pump to compensate for fuel. It basically senses boost in the intake by means of a sensor and increases voltage above 12v to increase fuel pressure/volume.

There has to be some reason for it, but what could it be?

racerx6466 01-09-2009 05:16 PM

Yeah I saw the Vortech setup also, still waiting for a reply from them as to why 2002 is different.

Not having code for the PCM to burn a chip or setup a programmer for it.
It's a very small market, and their efforts are better focused elsewhere for profit reasons.

Are there any companies that would be able to tune the computer for the paxton setup or is there even a difference between the two computers (2001-2002)?The guy at Paxton said he wasn't even sure there was a difference they just never looked into the 2002. Or if someone could direct me to a member or site that would be able to help me out. I would really love to have this setup on my truck

Pretty much any SCT or Diablosport dealer. I would get the truck on the dyno after the install, they can monitor everthing on the dyno and make shure everythings safe. Tweak and tune for max power and safety.

Awesome thanks for the help guys

If you buy a used kenne bell and get the larger injectors they can burn a chip for any year 2v v10, I'm not sure about the 3v's though.

To figure out if the ECM codes are the same pull it and see what it is, then call and see if that matches what they have, I do know there is a difference in code between 01 and 03 for sure.
(sorry if my tech lingo isn't exactly right)

Yes, Ken at Kenne Belle sets his stuff up right, and has capability to do just about any year and strategy. If he doesn't have the right stuff,he makes a phone call and gets it from those that know. Not every manufacturer has this luxury.

I just bought a 35 ft Pace Arrow motor home. It is powered by a V-10 310 hp engine. It slows on hills. I wonder if there is any way to add a supercharger or a new chip that will both increase the hp and mpg without damaging the engine?

BILL238 06-28-2013 04:57 PM

I also want to know if the V-10 can be converted to LP without damage and is there any change to the hp? Do you know anyone in Champaine, IL area who does this conversion?
