The RH door that I bought at the 07 Nats had an outline of a door guard like that. I've never seen one though.

WALFORD'S 56 12-27-2008 09:04 PM

Jeff--I wonder if these were aftermarket--or Ford? Most likely a.market.
I think they are stainless-and should polish up good.
How do you like my 1st pic I had help....but will be putting pics on everyday now...haha
thanks....Bill

Bill, pic looks good. Don't have an idea on whether they are aftermarket or not.

They were probably J.C whitney or Gasseys or pep boys from days gone by.

Way to go Bill!!!! I knew you could do it.
I have never seen a guard like that.

Thanks Merten!!---I had my nephew and niece for the holidays and she is a pastor and her husband is a dr., and my nephew is a Technical support analyst-for the big giant corps. around the country.
It is funny---we have no kids and so we do not know this stuff---people with kids all learn from their kids.......and I am learning the pic game now==and it is confusing.
Bigwin---Do you think they will look tacky on 56 no.1 project trucks doors?
I think they look cool. I have 2 sets. Thanks...Bill

I thought that was your middle name! and I'm not saying cool is your middle name either!

Run them its your ride, Y block, 302, 3speed, auto, door handle guards, lowered, ifs, stock, fat tires, skinny stock wheels with caps. Its all good, what ever you decide is what makes your truck "yours"

Just like I LOVE my fender skirts. You either love them or you hate them. But in the end its "my ride"

I think they are very cheesy but I will take them off your hands. He He.

WALFORD'S 56 12-28-2008 06:08 PM

I like em!! I will use the better set,and install them tomorrow.
Rodney--they would look tacky on your cool truck--haha

Hey guys---just got home after finding another parts guy. I bought a 1956 valance for 20.00 bucks and then he showed me all the stuff he has and wow--I left with a nice front fender and inner fender combo and a nice rear fender with the tire storage area and it had never been on a truck and 3 sets of bed sides for a 53-56 f100 ALL for 120.00 buckaroos.
The front fender is used Ford and no putty-original paint.
The rear fender with cut-out for spare is FORD and NOS and was 50.00 bucks......haha
I am going back next month for more and this guy is a real collector.
The bed sides are ok--but not as nice as I wished--but made my day!!!
AND found a german shepherd puppy on the freeway to boot.....what a day.....Rodney--this dog will be the replacement for our Leah-that died this year....remember her?
Cannot wait to work on the trucks tomorrow!!! LOL

It is for the f100. N.D. and will look cool on my 56 no.1 project.
It now has all the sheetmetal for it and ready to start the engine before I install the front fenders.
56 no.2 still needs the bed and rear fenders. Front clip and engine and cab and all is on.
I was so happy--when I found these parts....and 2 GAS PUMPS FOR MY BARN!!--that will need my trailer to get those next month.
Rodney---wax that 56 for a cruise---will talk to ya soon.....Bill

I've never seen those door gaurds for a truck, but they are on EBay frequntly for 55-56 Ford cars. They are after-market and run about $60 in primo condition. :-tap Jag

Many of these "gypo" door guards are sold on ebay by a neighbor of mine.

He goes all over the country, stopping at all indie autoparts stores looking for and buying up all the old accessories and other "goodies."

The older the building the autoparts stores are in...the better.

He built a 50 x 50 foot one room building out in his back yard to store all this stuff.

You walk in there, it looks just like a Pep Boys store from the 1950's complete with all the signs and displays, and the oak glass cases they were originally displayed in.

btw: Have you ever been to Dinuba, Avenal or Newman? These are Central Valley towns, Dinuba is east of 99, Avenal and Newman are just east of 33.

These towns have oooold autoparts stores that the basements were once jammed with this stuff. The store in Dinuba was a time warp!

I haven't been back there in 10 years...I wonder what if anything is left?
