inertia fuel shut-off switch

Can anyone tell me where the inertia fuel shut-off switch is located on a 1999 Ford Explorer ? Also, if I reset this button, which would happen after airbags have been deployed, will the vehicle then start ?

Thank you, tunker

My 97 has an idiot light on the dash to tell me if the inertia switch is open & needs to be reset. Is the light on?

Your owners manual will give the location of the inertia switch. On my 97 it's under the dash on the passenger side.

When you turn the key to the ON position, you should hear the fuel pump prime for a second or 2. If you don't hear it, then the intertia switch may be tripped. The switch on my 95 is located on the passenger foot area near the firewall. You have to peel back the carpet to see it.

Did your airbags deploy?

The air bags and the inertia switch could both be activated in a crash but one has nothing to do with the other. The inertia switch should be in the foot area of the passenger side. Look from the kick panel around to the console and you'll find it. Mr.87 XLT, you have an idiot light for the inertia switch? I don't have an Explorer yet but I've never seen that before........
