99 F250 7.3L Diesel Front Crank Seal
I have a decent sized oil leak coming out of my front crank seal. This was verified by a mechanics shop. Is this something I can change myself or should I have them do it? If so, how hard is it to do? Will I be able to find a written procedure for this somewhere? I appreciate any help. Thanks, Mike.

I see you have had the leak mechanic verified, but for your sake, make dang sure that's what is it. The HPOP is a much more common place to leak than the seal. Also, the CPS seal has been known to leak as well. Just make sure before you tear in to it.

What are the HPOP and CPS seals? And how do I check them? Thanks, Mike.

Been there, done that. If you can get the harmonic balancer off, you can change the seal.

I'm familiar with the O-rings going bad on the backside of the pump, but are there seals/rings on the bottom? I just did a thorough cleaning of my engine so I have to wait until I drive it some more to find a fresh leak. But while I was cleaning it I noticed a ton of buildup behind the balancer. I was convinced it was an HPOP issue but now I'm not sure. I didn't think front seals were known for going bad on the 7.3's which is causing my confusion because all indication shows it's a seal but every search I do comes up HPOP issues.
