upper spring seat
:'(
Hi People, Not sure if this is the right place to post, but here goes. I am the owner of a 1978 f-150 4x4, I love the truck, but I think I have a serious problem. Just heard this noise that sounded like a cracked front coil spring, crawled under her and to my dismay found that my left front upper spring seat had rusted through and now my spring is starting to push through it. Does any one know if this can be repaired? ,Is a part available?, does it get welded on or does it bolt on? Someone please Help. Thanks Bob |

the upper spring seat should be bolted and riveted to the frame you can cut the rivets and bolt a new one on in it place. Just use grade 8 bolts when you bolt a new one on the rivets you will have to use a torch or a die grinder to remove the head and use a hammer and a punch to pop them thru the frame. and then you can find some grade 8 3/8 diameter bolts which would be a 9/16ths head and bolt it all back together. It is a fairly easy job to do
