DP-Tuner Questions

:-huhI have a 1997 Ford Powerstroke and I am looking for a chip to put in it that will help it out on steep hills and things. I like the DP-Tuner that are for sale at ITP Diesel but dont know what settings to choose. The options are something like 20hp tow, 60hp tow 80hp tow and so on some say no codes there are several options. I guess you can have up to 15 positions a would need only about 2 or 3.

typical is 4-6. usualy a light tow and a heavy tow, daily driver, race mode, and extreme. you can also add a high idle function and some other neat stuff if you like.

I'm debating between putting in a DP or a TW, I've talked to Jody at DP and he reccomended No Start, Stock, 60 HP tow, 80 HP econo and a High idle.

I got my DP-Tuner from ITP Diesel and I have nothing but good things to say from my experience. I had a faulty controler and they sent me a new one overnight free of charge. As for your quuestion, I got 5 positions: Theft deterent, Stock, 40hp Tow, 80hp Tow, 80hp Econo, 100hp Perfor, and 120hp Race. If i were to do it again i would get rid of the 100hp setting and go up by 40hp increments and then replace it with the smoke setting in the #5 slot. To be honest I drive around in the 40hp heavy tow setting because the economy setting changes the shift points and they arent that great with the 4.10's. But when i send it back to be reburnt for the II's I'm going to have him change the shift point back to stock. The guys at ITP can be a little difficult to get a hold of sometimes but they are very helpful with any questions you may have.

Both TW and DP are good. Only thing about DP is they charge you for every tune you get and I think charge for reburns. Someone correct me if i'm wrong. TW will give you free reburns for life. Mine is getting reburnt now for the 2s

Tony told me free reburns but I don't know about DP. If I were to get a DP chip I would just get it straight from them DP-tuner. ITP is a great dealer but I would just rather deal with the source. DP new F6 chip is pretty awesome so they have that going for them for sure but its more $$$.

I think that DP does charge for reburns and that is the one thing that I dont like. <br>
Tim- What is the difference between the F5 and F6? Seeing as i have to reburn for the II's and its gonna cost me might as well get the new technology.

Looking at the sight you never have to take the chip out to change tunes. You simply download them to your computer and with a USB cable upload to chip. Sounds really cool but I cant see paying $25-$75 per program each time you get something new.

i have no experience with DP tuners but every person i talk to, i recommend the TW chip. tunes are exceptional. never having to take out the chip might be a good thing, ive been waiting on my reburn for almost a month!!!

The F6 is sweet, especially if you have an engine that is constantly under modification.

I'm not a big fan of the TW rotary switch. I think if your paying that kind of money for something you should have a more presentable way to adjust the settings.

Do you think that it would be possible for the Tony to burn a chip and still use the selector from my DP-Tuner. Because I love the set-up i have now but were im going to have to pay for the reburn i might as well go to a TW just for the fact that any further reburn's would be free. I think i remember RubberDuck having a custom switch(on his shifter??) and was just wondering if this was a common thing that they could do.
