K&N 77 Cold Air Intake

I'm looking to purchase a cold air intake for my 02' f150, is the 77 series from K&N a good choice or are there other brands out there that do the same thing without the name? I'm looking to get more performance and a more ballsy sounding engine.

Also for anyone looking at this if you know where I could find a cheap replacement air compressor for a set of Hadley Air Horns that would be greatly appreciated.

Please and Thank You.

When I had my 2000 and 2002 F-150's, I had the K&N FIPK 2 cai and it made my 5.4 sound as if I had a 4 barrel carb, and it gave nice throttle response, but I did not notice any gains in power. People seem to like the Volant cai, but I wouldn't know first hand. Opening up you're exhaust along with an intake will make you're engine sound good at both ends. At one time I saw air horn compressors on EBAY. Mabey try Craigs List or do an internet search.

According to the K&N power book, a 2002 F150 with the 5.4 will see a 9.38HP gain at 4093 RPM when using the 77 series intake.

We sell AirRaid, K&N, Volant, AEM, and others. K&N is the most popular of the brands we carry.

K&N filters don't filter well, they flow so good, they flow dirt through as well. The AEM brute force intake is a better choice as they use the dryflow filter that requires no oil. Ford mafs don't function prroperly with oil on them. K&N is old school, theres much better filters available now. In independant testing, K&N ranked at the bottom for filtering ability, AEM, aimsoil and airaid were some of the better ones.

AEM Brute Force takes my vote also. Definitely go with a non oiled filter.....as wendell says you'll be cleaning your maf all of the time
