IC with snow plow?

I was wondering if you can put an intercooler on if you have a snow plow on your truck. The plow is a western unimount and it would be a 6.0 intercooler? I heard that the mount is in the way big time.

I think Tim(tjbeggs) runs a plow with hin 6.0 IC...not sure what kind though

Yes I have a plow on but its completely different mounting than a western. I know that there is a cross beam in the way on the unimount hitch but I have heard of a few guys that reworked the cross bar to make it all work. It all depends on how much fabricating you want to do.

Anything is possible...
Just whether or not it's worth the work...
you might be a perfect candidate for a W/A Intercooler...

Trans temps are something you should keep in mind Your inter cooler will work just fine I think with all that snow blowing in there

Tj what kind of temps are you seeing with the plow on? I have seen lots of guys smoke there trannies from heat

Last year before the tru-cool I was seeing 180-200 degrees Nothing out of control except one time push 16 inches of heavy snow time 10 foot wide swath. Thats a lot of snow!

WALJON 11-07-2008 04:58 PM

LOL yeah that's a lot, we have a 99 one ton at work that has been through 2 trannies because of the snow plow but it also has a lot to do with the bozo driving it a bigger trans cooler fixed the problem.

I think having a trans temp gauge wouldn,t be a bad Idea or even mandatory with a snow plow that's just my opinion

I agree! too bad the guy I work for during the winter plowing doesn't believe in that. 3 years now I have plowed for him but never a tranny issue. He runs 5 trucks and none of them have had issue. Course they just have little Boss plows that can't move much snow.......
