headlight/ headlight control knob question

i seem to have a problem with my headlights in my 2001 ranger. i was going to go to the store but when i turn the knob for my headlights the main beams do not turn on. when i turn the knob to the first position the running lights and tail lights come on, but when i turn it to the second position the main lights do not come on, but the running lights remain on. i think the switch is busted because i noticed it is not clicking into place like it has in the past. anyone had this problem before? any clue on how to replace the switch if needed? thanks for any input you can give.

Edit: nevermind, i found out how to replace the switch. anyone know if this part is regular stock at the dealer? i work at night and really need my headlights

I don't remember what gen the inside is. if it's the latter one used today, then i'd think so, but if it's like mine (97), good luck. If i was you, and my search didn't end so well, would hit up walmart for some cheapo driving lights and jerry rig em into place till you can get the switch. Either that, or run temp control wires and get a cheap 3-way switch.

Check the Ford parts sponsors, LMC Truck, possibly local auto parts stores, or you local, friendly salvage yard. It looks like the same switch is used on 98 thru 05 models.
