blended diesel fuel

Ok as you will be able to tell, I own my first diesel, 08, 6.4. Question on diesel fuel. When do I need to worry about putting in #1 diesel? Can you trust the stations that say they blend it? What ration to they blend it at? If I pull into a station that has #1, #2, at what ratio do I blend it now in relation to the colder temps? Would appreciate info on this, Thanks

If I remember correctly the 07 and up should be run on ULSD only which is diesel #1.

The stations have a chart they follow regarding the blend of diesel. It depends on the time of year. The later in the season (colder) the more blended it is. #1 diesel is winter and #2 diesel is summer diesel. I usually run the #1 in the coldest month (Jan.), otherwise I run 50/50 blend of #1 and #2 slowly turning back to straight #2 by spring. I have not had any problems of gelling, but I also add Power Service with every tank. The 2007 year trucks and newer need to run ULSD. The stations have until 2010 to switch from LSD to ULSD, although most have made the switch already. I hope this helps (a little late, but I check in when I can). :-tap
