comp Xtreme 4x4 cam
Has anyone tried one of the Comp cams Xtreme 4x4 cams, and how do you like it, im thinking of putting one in my 408w, pros and cons?
|
I haven't tried one, but I just looked at the specs and I think it is way too small a cam. What heads, intake, carb are you going to use? Are you going with headers and what trans and rear gear ratio?
|
IM using aluminum 185cc 2.02in 1.60ex heads with a edelbrock rpm air gap manifold, im trying to run long tube headers, and im using a C-6 trans, im not shure of what tq. convertor or what gears im going to run in the rear, not to steep i would like to be able to drive it on the highway

I just put 2 and 2 together and I take back what I said about the cam being way small, I was looking at a different cam than the ones you are considering. And I'll modify what I said in the other thread: after looking at all the specs and knowing a little more about your set up, I think the CCA-35-243-4 is perfect.

I just hope its not to much cam, i would like to be able to talk to someone who has tried the comp cams xtreme 4x4 cam so they could tell me what the idle quality was like or maybe i should stop being a nancy and just buy the thing. I will probaly just call comp about it and see what they could tell me:-drink

You're working backwards as far as choosing a cam. You don't build an engine, then build the car around it. JMHO. Converters are another example. Same deal applies. Call Coan, B&M, TCI, and they're gonna ask you more questions than you can answer. I know your question was about a generic Comp cam, but there are better choices out there. JMO.

Not to sound too harsh there Pete, but your post said a whole lot of nothing. No "news you can use" in it.
