Truxedo Tonneau Cover
 

I am looking to buy a new tonneau cover for my truck, and was looking at the truxedo tonneau cover with the tool box. Does anybody have one or previously had one? According to the reviews I've seen, besides the locking mechanism issue, they are pretty good. Looking for last reviews prior to actual purchase.

I actually have a TruXedo Plus on one of my trucks. I like the fact that I have less of a blind spot in back compared to traditional toolboxes. And since the toolbox is 18" wide and 11" deep you still have room under the toolbox for sheets of plywood or other cargo.

I'm not sure what issues anyone is having with their latching mechanism, but when you install your cover and toolbox, you do need to adjust the latch and the striker to get it to close correctly. It's step four in the instructions. Here is the link:

while i do not have one with a toolbox, i have a truxedo low pro on my 02 superduty.
i did a lot of research, and narrowed the choices down to truxedo and access cover.

access cover did not answer email questions.
Kellie from truxedo answered my email that day, and after talking to her on the phone, truxedo was a no brainer.
and the fit was exactly what i was looking for with the limited space i had to work with due to a headache rack bolted to the bed.
in 1 year of use, i have had no problems with the latch assembly.
and as Kellie says, the whole thing is in the adjustments when doing the install.

I have one. It’s not waterproof, so you can’t put anything in it you don’t want wet, not to say it lets a ton of water in or anything. I added a bunch of weather stripping to mine. Mines also too short, by about half an inch, I have a gap between the front of the bed and the tool box, but it’s very small. It does not handle winter weather well, ice forms under the hinge, my lid’s slightly bent because of it, and you’ll spend a lot of time chipping around it which will eventually chip away the paint. I like the low profile of the toolbox, but then the overall profile of the tonneau is a little high for me. I also had to file the key down so I could get it in the key hole.

If I had to do it all over again I’m not sure I would mostly because of it’s design, just too many key places for ice to form and gum things up. I believe it’s a good idea, just poor execution. Though if ice isn’t an issue…

I put a slightly used standard Truxedo on my SCrew about 4 years ago. It's handled the snow and ice well enough for me. I guess I didn't expect a perfect seal. But now I'm having problems with the velcro not holding the cover on well. It comes loose too easily and starts flopping. I think it has a lot to do with the 90 degree angle the cover has to do before the velcro. I think the Access would work better. If I ever get a tear or get tired of re-sticking the velcro, I'm going Access.

I had a Truxedo Deuce on my 01 F150 before I got rid of the truck and it was very nice. I've never heard of any latch problems either.
