Hypereutectic Pistons ????

Hello, could some-one please explain to me the difference between a Hypereutectic piston and a Forged piston, which one is stronger ? Will one last longer than the other ? Are Forged pistons the number one choice in a high performance build ? Thanks Jamie.

forged are stronger, for street use hypers are fine. i would say forged are the number one choice in performance, if your running high compression, and/or high revving you'll definitly want to go with forged.

for street driving hyperutectic is good because they they dont expend much when up to operating temp. this means they are bigger when they are cold, and they don't let much oil by, or slap as much. these pistons are quite hard but are brittle.

forged is best when you are revving high or boosted applications. forged is better for taking detonation because they aren't as brittle.

I use them

I've been running Keith Black Hypereutectics in my 460 for two summers now, and no problems.:-drink

Thanks Guys, As I was told forged pistons are the number one choice for my 552ci stroker build, but as I do not plan to race it I was hoping to use Hypereutectics pistons. I checked Summit prices for the Keith Black pistons to use with the 6-7 rod and the forged pistons are not as expensive as i was led to belive. Thanks for the help... Jamie Oz.
