23 MPG...Thanks DP Tuner!!!!

I just thought I would give anyone interested in a programmer for fuel milage and more power to look no further than the guys at DP. I installed one on my 2001 Excursion just before Thanksgiving..I was imediatley driving the winter fuel and noticed a ton more power..80 econo program..I reallt didn't notice a milage increase until this spring when we switched out of the winter fuel. All I can say is "WOW"...At 70 miles an hour I drove from southern WI. to northern WI and all around up there and back. Amost 750 miles and I have a 1/4 tank left!!!!! Thats 22.8MPG as I figured it out on paper. At 4 something a gallon I am VERY HAPPY with DP Tuner. not to mention the power!! Thanks DP and I hope this helps anyone out there looking to look no further.. Oh yea ...installed myself in less than an hour...AWESOME...:-jammin

What was your MPG before the DP Tuner?

totin_tools 08-26-2008 09:31 PM

Did you put a brick under the pedal or something.:-missingt I wish I could get that kind of mileage outta mine.

Dustin1690 08-26-2008 09:33 PM

Wow very impressive mpgs

bigsteve1969 08-26-2008 09:41 PM

i got 22mpg with a diablo preadator but i was only running 60-65 and i was coasting downgrades and such

PowerstrokeJunkie 08-26-2008 09:50 PM

I got about 11 last tank with my DP Tuner.

The best i've gotten is just under 18, 17.8 or something like that. That was running between 70-75 on the way back from the beach this summer.

Idk why but I know a few 7.3L that get high teens low 20's for MPG in WI. Most of them only have an intake and exhuast with no prog/tuner.

You think it might have somthing to do with the fuel we get here? or maybe just driving habits? I got on mine quite a bit and still could drive around for two weeks of going to work and rippin around town.

I think he was relying on his overhead 'lie-o-meter' and didn't divide his milage by the actual gal's used when he filled up especially running 70mph!
Just my .02

My dad hand calculates his mileage and he consistantly gets about 16 mpg on winter diesel and about 17-18 on regular diesel and he drives like a normal person. (the truck is listed in my sig)

While I know that my DP-tuner will get better mileage if I drove it easier, the only way I could ever get that kind of mileage is if I mounted the chip to the underside of the pedal the ran the cable up my leg and tied the end around my,,,, well you get the idea. I have did over 18mpg with my DP but that wasn't any fun. I have got 10.5 and that was a lot of fun but expensive. I usually get 15 +/- 1 and that's affordable fun.

I know it does for gas. If I gas up in Arizona I can get up to 4mpg better? Yet another reason this state sux. Better emissions, but worse mpg.....hmmmmm does'nt that mean I use MORE gas? S#$%^ M*@#$^ F#$%^ D&*(^ state government :-banghead.

DieselCamper01 08-27-2008 08:17 AM

WAAAAAYYYY better than anything I have ever gotten. Running stock except the mods in my sig. Best I have seen with pretty light pressure on the go pedal is 15.5. Congrats if that is really your true mileage Upnorthman. I am jealous. Is your EX 4X4?

brian42 08-27-2008 09:00 AM

Stock intake (except aFe drop-in filter), stock exhaust, no programmer and I get between 16 and 17mpg's (depends on my mood and my right foot that sometimes has a mind of it's own). Last tank was mostly highway and I got 17.8 hand calculated mpg for the tank (540 miles before the low fuel light came on).

Now if I can just convince my wife that the DP tuner will pay for itself in a few months...

zx250 08-27-2008 09:04 AM

Just for future referance, keep that fuel tank above 1/4 and you will get even better and you engine will thank you for it. Stock design allows for air in you fuel lines when it gets much below 1/4 mark and that makes it unhappy, hench the reason for the in tank mods.
