Windshield Wiper Blades

What kind of windshield wiper blades have you found to work best? Mine are worn out, its time to toss some new ones on, and was looking for some good feedback.

i just use the Rain X cheap blades (not the latitude). they worth just fine for me and they are only like $8.xx each

I find that the OEM Trico blades work the best. They are only 6.99 for a refill set from the dealer.

Rain-X 22" for the drivers side
El Cheapo Wally World Brand 22" for the passenger side

Rain-X last for 2-3 months. I'm pretty OCD about wiper blades, so I change them at the 1 to 1 1/2 month point.

Over here in the sandbox it doesnt rain much but we do need to use the wipers on occasion to get rid of the dust. I obviously use the spray when doing this but the thing with my F150 (i presume its the case with the rest of the F150's) is that when you activate the spray, the wipers make one pass first before the spray starts.

Is there any way of making the spray activate first before the wipers as its that one pass the wipers make on the dry hot dusty windows that kills the life of wiper blades.

Thanks

I have the Rain-x Latitudes and they are amazing! Get them from E-bay and you will pay like $30 for 2 blades instead of $45 in the store.

i have tried several types, and honestly find the wally world el cheapo brand (pylon) to be the best..... they are less than 4.00 each for the whoe replacement blade, and for the price it doesnt break the bank to change them more often than the other brands.

I'm using bosch wipers....they've been on 6 months and are like new......also...using longer ones than stock....

I just put a set of Bosch Icons on last weekend. I also switched from standard 20" to the larger 22" size based on another thread I read. Work well so far, but too early to tell yet. They have no brackets (so better in winter) and have sort of a spoiler blade on them so air pressure pushes them tighter against the windshield. They were pricey at $21.99 each at Autozone. If they work/last, they are worth it but also worth an internet search for price. If not...

the ones I replaced were Bosch Excel, a cheaper variety, but I was never as impressed with them as I was with the OEM set.

I bought a pair of 20" Anco wiper blades today at walmart for $4 each. They fit on perfectly, and work very well. We are getting a ton of rain down here in south florida this week with the hurricane/tropical storm.

Also check out RockAuto's selection of wiper blades. We carry trico and our price is usually cheaper then the dealers!

One day I was reading my owners manual (2007) and on page 12 it read,Ford will replace the wipers free of charge,up to 1 year/unlimited mileage! Well,I took it in to my local Ford dealer, showed them the manual and they installed new wiper blades,FREE! :-X22

I had those things for 1 week. Then took the POS blades back to Walmart and got my money back. Since they don't have a back frame, they wobble and twist at highway speeds. Completely useless.

also, the passenger one wouldn't contact the windshield fully. I had about a 5-6" gap where the wiper blade passed completely without touching glass.

I stick with Rain-X and Walmart Cheapies now.

btw, I run the 22" blades also. Work great, and give you a bit more viewing area

Wiper blades ain't something I dwell on too much. With the heat and rain here in Florida, no brand is gonna last very long. The cheapo Anco's at Wal mart work just fine, swap 'em out every few months.
One question... if you upsize to 22's, do the blades ever hit your A-pillar on the backstroke?

Svets96 08-19-2008 09:16 PM

I have the icons and had no problems so far. But only time will tell.
