Does anyone know????

Ok, so the other day I went to the junk yard and picked up 11 MAF Meters. all from random vehicles. I now need to see what meters are calibrated for what # injectors. And also how to test to see if the meters are in fact good. I've tried cross referencing for days now, but come up with nothing other than usless replacement part numbers, nothing about # or flow ratings. HELP!!!!:-banghead:-hair:-huh

You should be able to figure out those things if you know the vehicle they came from. Are you looking for a particular combination?

Midnight88 07-30-2008 08:35 PM

Well heres the thing, my old man and I went through a junk yard pulling MAF meters out of just about anything that had one. Thus, we skipped the crucial part of writing down what cars they were in. i know some were out of continentals, towncars, and a few taurus's. Some had 4.6, some had 3.8 ect.....

Does anyone know what? What you pulled? You don't even know.

See if you can find part numbers on the stuff you pulled. Post it and there are a couple of guys who might be able to help, but it's a long shot. For one, is there even a part number on these things?

Or you could just describe them: "Black and silver, hole in the middle, has a lever thingy on the side and some wires sticking out."

Sorry to be such an A------ but gosh, take a step back here...what was you fellers thinking?

danr1 07-30-2008 09:24 PM

Why would anyone want or need 11 different MAF sensors?

Sounds like you may now have 11 worthless MAF sensors, no good to you, no good to the people that may have been able to use them had you left them there.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to find out what model car/truck had the one you needed, then just went and bought it?

Sounds like the junk yard made out like a bandit at least.....

danr1 07-30-2008 09:34 PM

Or is it you where hoping to buy up any and all of them that may be sought after cheap, then hold them for sale at "a kings ransom" on ebay?

Midnight88 07-30-2008 09:36 PM

I took 11 in order to find which ones flow best and which ones were calibrated for what. I,ve tried running the numbers to no avail. I have like 3 more days left I can return the ones that are of no use to me. All I'm looking for is if someone has a chart that might tell what numbers mean what. Pulling the sensors that day was my dads idea, he payed for it, I'm just trying to make sense of it. So if you dont plan on being of any use, please dont chime in your 2 cents.

Dude, if you have a problem, go elsewhere.

danr1 07-30-2008 10:03 PM

No no problem, just trying to find the reasoning in it.

You should have beem able to find out all that from the model and engine, no need to pull every sensor in the lot to find out what you wanted to know.

I'm not saying you did anything wrong, first come first serve, free enterprise and buy low and sell high and all that, heck that is the American way!

But to pull them all of and then try to find out whats what in my mind is silly.

If the yard will take em back they must have a way of knowing what what's, ask them?

You're not keeping a record of what one came of from what vehicle, they may end up just telling you to keep em. May no longer be any good to them like that? Yards are computerized now, hard to inventory something you know nothing about as in make, model and engine size.
I know the yards here would laugh at me if I did something like that and then turned around and tried to return them, I wouldn't blame em one bit.

Midnight88 07-30-2008 11:27 PM

They yard I got these from simply marked them with yellow paint and said, if you dont need it, bring it back withing 10 days. Like I said, my dad just told me to go start tearing out sensors, I was trying to keep track of whats what but after he took and threw them all in a wheel barrel, it became kind of a cluster f*&%k you know. So, like I said, I have the numbers off of them now that I'm home from work so I'll try to put some up.

I sent a PM to the one who knows all. Should he take your case, you'll have some info to work with. Stay tuned.

Have you tried the part number lookup on one of the OEM Ford websites, such as Direct Ford Parts Genuine Ford Truck Parts Lincoln Mercury Parts OEM Ford Parts and Accessories ?

The part number 'lookup' will not work, because....these are engineering ID numbers, not part numbers.

The last time an actual Ford part number appeared on any part was 1956.

The engineering numbers can only be cross referenced to actual part numbers by using the correct parts catalog, or in this particular case, a Master Cross Reference Catalog (MCRC).

Midnight88: Contact one of FTE's Ford dealer parts department sponsors for assistance. This is the only way to get the actual parts numbers.

I do not have a MCRC.

This forum isn't your private question answering service.
All posts are displayed for all to see, participate in and benefit from.

Had danr1 not asked the questions he did, or comment the way he did, I'm sure that someone else would have. When someone posts here it is usually with the concerns for the whole forum and all truck owners in mind.

I think his concern that pulling 11 units without charting them is a valid concern, and really an unnecessary waste that probably deprived someone visiting that junkyard after you.

And where would you be if someone had been to that yard the day before and taken all of the units they could find ?

Please remember there are other people in the world, and thousands participating in these forums that you benefit from, and that's what makes the whole thing work.
