Bio in my 2000 Power stroke!
 

I'm new to Bio. I had 1/4 tank of dino fuel, topped it off with 100% bio today. I have never used bio before. Should have asked questions first, but I tend to act on impulse. Impulse being price. Dino here in Texas is around $4.85 +/- a gallon. I found a place in Fort Worth that sells 100% bio for $4.459 a gallon. I always wanted to try it, so I did. Are there any mods I need to do to run it, seems to run fine so far. Why is bio so expensive? Like helping farmer, instead of big oil companies. Why is bio so scarce? Please help me understand. Thanks for all your input. Oh yea, I got a 2000 powerstroke, no mods, 140,000 miles.:)

Properly processed bio is perfectly fine in our engines. There are no modifications needed. One thing to note: bio is a solvent and will clean out leftover gunk in your fuel tank and lines. Keep a spare fuel filter handy, you might have to replace it soon as the bio cleans out your fuel system.

I wish there was a bio station close by. I used to run bio-diesel when I lived in SC, and my truck ran so much better on that stuff.

appreciate it, thinking about an addon tank. I'd like to hold about a 100 gallons. If the stuff is as good as I've heard, I won't ever dino again.:-bigparty

As pocket said go buy a spare fuel filter or two and throw in the truck, other then that I have been running bio in my 2000 psd for the past 4 yrs with zero problems (I only run in the summer because it gets cold here and I don't have a heated place to make and store it)
I can tell when I start running it every year because the truck just sounds quieter and better.

I haven't put a drop of dino in my truck sense I bought it back in october. spare filter is a must!! and eventually the bio will break down rubber fuel hose. I ordered a polyethlene hose online and replaced all mine with that. I blend my bio with kerocene in the winter and have had 0 problems. Makes my truck run better, and smell delicious!

Ford has not used rubber hoses etc since around 1994 you should be safe.

Core250 at whar ratio do you mix with the keroseen in the winter months and how good is that mixture as far as temp goes?

You need to pay more attention to where you get your fuel. I've been paying $4.69 and I'm between Grandview and Maypearl. (howdy neighbor)

Are you talking about that little place up around northside in FW? The last time I was there the fence was locked. If you've found a place closer to home I'm all ears.

The spare fuel filter is a good idea, but I never needed one. I started playing with B20 from Carl's Corner when diesel first started going up. I checked my filter every week but never had any issues. That was back at 155k. I've used everything from B5 - B100 in the last 100k or so and never had any fuel filter issues, but still carry a spare in my truck.

Yea, that's probably the same place. It's on long ave, on the east side. I think the gates are open from 7am to 10 pm, I have the guys number that ownes it if you want it. Alvarado fuel is out of site high. There are a few places around @4.70 or so but you have to hunt for them, I'm tired of the prices, 445 sounds alot better.

I found it online, there also places in waco and hillsboro i think. You want to check online and make sure.

I up in DFW more that Waco. If you're referring to the Knox in Hillsboro they quit selling the Bio when they started handling the ULSD. Carls corner is still shut down for remodeling, and last time I was by the place on Long Ave the gates were locked at 3:30 on a weekday, so I wasn't sure.

The QT in South FW usually has some pretty good prices, but I've noticed my mileage seems to drop a little when I buy it there. The Loves just South of there usually has some pretty good prices. I've also noticed the Fast Stop here in Grandview usually has some pretty decent prices (at least better than Alvarado) and it's not that far a drive.

I used to buy it a qtrip, big willies in joshua used to be real cheap. Took a trip to wichita falls saturday, filled up @ dfw bio on long @ 12:00pm on the way up, filled up again @ 5:00pm the way back down. Kinda of a unattended, self service kinda place, don't know why gatew would be locked. Fella that ownes it told me he gets the bio from cleburne, is there a plant in cleburne? I looked on the net could not get much info. Would like to by in bulk, if possible.

I think the name of the place is Smithfield Biofuels, but I didn't have any luck finding them a year ago when I looked. If you find a deal on bulk fuel let me know. I'll chip in with you.

I sure will let you know, if I find any. Cut out the middle man, it's cheaper. Or if you can find oil, even better. Got a buddy, say he can turn me on to a steady supply. I'll see if it goes through. You ever make any?
