ProblemsWithAftermarketCOP's/Boots?;#1HardToReach?
I have another bad coil, #1 ---- hope its not too hard to get to. (My local dealer, very expensive in very expensive northern NJ, wanted $381 to change it!; Is there extra labor to get way back to the #1 coil?)
Is anyone having problems with aftermarket COP's? And the boots they come with? Stick with Motorcraft? Thanks 2002 F250 5.4 |
#1 cylinder is the front passerger side next to the radiator so its easy to get to. i just changed #4 COP and i stuck with the motorcraft and havent had a problem. dont forget to put dielectric grease on the bottom of the boot. Ford charged me $99 for the COP expensive but it works

Damn, and dealers wonder why they get a bad rap all the time. $381 should be for all 8 of them if the dealers prices were worth a damn.
I swapped a whole set of the $100/8 COP's and have had no trouble. In almost every case the dealer is the last place to buy parts, you will pay 50-100% more just for that pretty red box. |
I just swapped a set of the "8 for $100" COP's, also, and they're performing great. Engine runs well and idles much better.
