NC Random Babble thread

Just got back from Mississippi, I went fishing in some farm ponds down thataway, and it was fun! Lot's of bass, but they were small so we let 'em go.

Even a small cast net (3 foot radius) can drag up live bait, I usually chuck a six or seven. I set up my line with a bobber about six or eight inches up from a hook with NO sinkers at all. Just a spot, shiner, or guppy on it.

Bait fish being free, I can fish indefinitely. (Bait store? What is THAT...)

I run the hook under the back fin of the bait fish. There is a bone under it that keeps it from getting pulled out when casting. The bait fish isn't big enough to make big moves on the bobber, but you can tell it's still good because it kind of "MOTORS AROUND" a bit until something grabs it.

Plop it out somewhere that a small fish should NOT be, and the results are explosive! Big fish also tend to stake out places like under an overhanging tree on a bank as their territory. You may have to set the bobber closer to the hook. Sometimes a stick looks more natural.

The idea is to present the bait fish as a lost or hurt little fish in a likely place...

(I know, it sounds cold blooded. Poor little fishies.... CAN YOU SPELL DINNER?)
