Replacing Rear fuel tank with larger one
I have a 1988 F-150.
I was told you can replace the rear tank with a Bronco tank for increased capacity. Doing so,I was told, you loose the ability to carry the spare under the tank. Is this all true and has anyone done this? I'm in NJ where the gas is a bit cheaper I'd like to have greater range. Thanks Dan |
it is true.

I noticed the 86 Bronco has a 33 gallon rear tank and the 88 Bronco has a 25 gallon tank.
Will the 86 Bronco tank fit a 88 F-150 without modication? |
I'm pretty sure you can't fit a 32 gallon bronc tank onto an 150 without, at least, longer straps. This link is a for sure fit, with an extra 6 gallons. They include longer bolts to lower the carrying straps.

you need bronco tank, longer straps and bronco fuel pump/pickup.
|
you need a USED bronco pump. You can't buy the hanger parts new from most anywhere.

Yep get tank straps pump for/from like year and injection type . (LOW presure or high)
U will loose spare tire . My 89 had a 32 gallon tank. As for new Most parts can still be got . But there is alway that one thing. I'd get complete setup used and put in new tank. |
