Anyone Running Mono Leaf Springs
 

I have been kicking around the idea of installing Mono Leaf Springs on my 3" dropped axle in my 51F1. I'm thinking I may be able to get around having t use the Tie Rod Drops. Anyone using the Mono Leaf, and if so, how do you like them.

I am running reverse-eye mono's on the front of my '54. I like the ride and steering. I still have to get the front end alighned but really dont feel any problems anyway. I didnt have to use drop tie-rods or alter the drag link. Just had to find shorter shocks, and also was able to use a front sway bar setup for a stock truck. Ended up with somewhere around 4 7\8" lower

Well that pretty much answered my questions, thanks for the help 56 Panel. I see now why so many of the guys on here are going to IFS. It does really make sense when you start adding all the Pros and Cons.

Tie rod drops are not the safest thing to use. If the tie rod ever hits something like a rock, what's going to happen?

Heating and bending the steering arms (and cooling them slowly) in two places is the way to go. That's what hot rodders have been doing since the late '40s.

On page 16 of the August, 2008 issue of Rod & Custom there's a picture I took of a pair of '37-'41 Ford spindles, one of which has a correctly dropped steering arm.

Ask BobbyT why he likes multi-leaves.... what would have happened if he were running mono's??? He drove it home like this.
